Grand Theft Auto V is a real phenomenon in the gaming industry, a bridge that connects two generations of consoles. Initially it was released on PS3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, and even then it was clear that the potential inherent in the game is tightly in the cage of systems that were outdated by that time. Then, a little over a year later, the release took place on the brand new PS4 / Xbox One – Rockstar showed how picturesque Los Santos and the surrounding area can be if you connect modern hardware to the case.

However, a huge amount of work has been done, so it is wrong to call the PC version of GTA V an ordinary port – it lasts for a full-fledged re-release. Of course, all controls were redesigned to accommodate the use of a mouse and keyboard. And if at certain moments parting with the gamepad can be upsetting (for example, when you find yourself at the helm of a helicopter), then in most cases everything is exactly the opposite: surfing the local analogue of the global network or shooting from a car is more convenient with the help of the traditional PC bundle.

Not without new content: as if apologizing for several transfers, Rockstar added an exclusive radio station The Lab FM with thirteen newest tracks, a Rockstar Editor video editor and Director Mode. Machinima fans had high hopes for the latter two, but those who expected to see an analogue of the long-standing The Movies inside GTA V will be disappointed.

Rockstar Editor is the advanced replay feature from Part 4. With it, you can change the camera angle, record and edit game footage, apply filters and music, and then publish your imperishable images on YouTube and the Social Club. Well, the “Director Mode” is an add-on to the Rockstar Editor, which allows you to set the desired conditions such as the time of day, the weather and the interest of the police, and then play as one of hundreds of characters, including animals and birds (the list of “actors” is replenished as you progress through the story campaign ).

Alas, the possibilities of interacting with other characters in the Director’s Mode remained almost the same as in the regular game. So if you were hoping to place the actors around the set, give each of them multi-pass instructions, and then yell into the loudspeaker “Motor!”, Then this is clearly the wrong address. Nevertheless, all these restrictions are unlikely to stop real talent – even the debut video, created by order of Rockstar itself, can serve as a good demonstration of the potential of new instruments.

And, of course, stunning graphics – the main pride of the team responsible for transferring the fifth part to computers. If you do not compare the two pictures and rely only on memory, then it may seem that compared to the nextgen version, the changes are insignificant – well, the grass is thicker and the smoothing is more pleasant. But if you run GTA V on PC at maximum settings, and then change to the version for PS4 / Xbox One, then she will seem like Franklin’s terrible aunt. Tessellation, DirectX 11, MSAA and many other words written on your video card box will take on meaning and shine with their pristine beauty.

On the other hand, so that this splendor does not fall below 60 frames / s at 1080p at maximum settings, you need to present a very powerful computer: the one specified in the recommended system requirements will not be enough. And if you want to snap in 4K the same screenshots as Rockstar on the website, prepare a real starship.
